First Baptist Church offers opportunities for music ministry:
![]() Adult Choir
The adult choir rehearses the first two Thursday's of each month and sings the Sunday following those rehearsals. Thursday rehearsals run from 7:00-8:00. Attendance is anywhere from 18-30, with an average attendance of 24. No auditions are necessary. Child care is provided during rehearsals. The choir sings at the beginning of each of the two services, 9:30 and 11:00. That allows members to attend Sunday School which meets opposite their worship service. The choir is off the summer months June-August. The musical selections generally tend to be more contemporary and suitable for blended worship. The choir usually performs one musical during the year, either at Christmas or Easter. Steve Dye directs the choir. Sally Oyster is the accompanist. King's Kids Children's Choir The King's Kids Children's Choir meets September through April on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:00 pm. The activities each Sunday evening include music rehearsal, a devotion, a game or craft, and snack. Children, ages kindergarten through sixth grade, are invited to join us. The children learn music that we sing for our congregation twice a month in the contemporary service at 11:00 am. One of the highlights each year of each year is our Christmas Nativity pageant where we present the Christmas story through a child's eyes with narration, costumes, and song. Praise Team There are two distinct praise teams that alternate months leading our worship for our 11:00 contemporary service. Rehearsals are Thursday evening from 5:00-6:00 PM for Instrumentals and Full rehearsal with vocalist 6:00-7:00 PM. Vocalist are accompanied by keyboards and drums. Praise teams are led by our associate pastor, Kevin Thomas. Hand Bells and Brass Occasionally members of the congregation pool their talents to play hand bells or play in a brass ensemble for special services. This is open to any interested individuals. Contact Steve Dye or Sally Oyster if interested. |
